DAVID BANKS (COMP)

Boston Red Sox vs. New York Yankees
One of the greatest rivalries in all of sports is set to go Saturday night from Yankees Stadium where the Red Sox will look to continue gaining ground in the division when it sends Josh Beckett to the bump to go mano-a-mano with New York’s C.C Sabathia.

Entering Friday night’s series opener, the BoSox currently sit three-games under the breakeven point (17-20) and have cost MLB bettors a pretty penny (-$1273); the worst money mark in the big leagues! They invade the Bronx off a mini two-game sweep at the hands of the Toronto Blue Jays at the Rogers Centre, and stand just 6-11 (-$881) away from Fenway Park on the young season. Boston’s managed wins just once the L/6 times the offense stared back at a lefthander, but is hitting better vs. lefties overall on the year (.260).

After losing a home series to the Kansas City Royals for the first time since the 1999 season, the Yankees now sit in second place of the AL East a game in back of the Tampa Bay Rays. Thursday’s defeat to the Royals also sent the Bronx Bombers into the red as they’ve now lost -$104 overall for their betting backers on the year. They’ve managed wins in 13 of their 21 overall home games played to date, but also sit in the red at -$67 lost. That said; the Yankees stand a dominating 25-6 the L/31 times Sabathia led them into battle in the house that George Steinbrenner built.

Boston won two of these hated rivals first two meetings of the 2011 season back at Fenway Park, and invade the Bronx for the first time this season winners in seven of these teams L/10 overall confrontations. In 23 career stars vs. NY, Josh Beckett is 11-7 with a 5.90 ERA & 1.49 WHIP, and he’s 2-1 and has gotten hit to the tune of a .303 batting average at New Yankees Stadium. Sabathia’s 6-6 with a 3.35 ERA & 1.15 WHIP in 16 career starts vs. the Red Sox.
The ‘over’ is 18-7-2 in the L/27 overall meetings.

LA Angels are 73-40 the past 3 years in day games. LA Angels are 37-20 last 3 years on the road when the total is 8 to 8 1/2. LA Angels bullpen has a 3.55 ERA overall this year. Dan Haren is 4-2 with a 1.87 ERA in all games this year, 3-2 with a 1.91 ERA in all starts this season, 2-1 with a 2.57 ERA on the road this year and 0-1 with a 2.61 ERA his last 3 starts. Derek Holland has a 7.29 ERA at home this year and a 6.60 ERA his last 3 starts. We'll recommend a small play on LA Angels today! Thanks and good luck, Rocky

TOP Bonus Play OF THE DAY (Courtesy of Jimmy Boyd)

1 Unit on St. Louis Cardinals +118

The Cards lost a tough one in extras Friday, but I like them to bounce back strong here behind the unbeaten Kyle McClellan.

The converted reliever is making plenty of noise out of the gate. He's 4-0 (6-0 on the money line) with an ERA of 3.34 in all starts this season.

Johnny Cueto looked good for the Reds Sunday in his first start of the season but one outing isn't enough to gain my support, especially since the Reds are 1-6 in his last 7 starts and 0-6 in his last 6 starts vs. a team with a winning record. Plus, Cueto carries a career 6.44 ERA through 9 starts against the Cards.

The Cardinals are 8-3 in the last 11 meetings in this series and 4-0 in their last 4 games following a loss.

Take St. Louis showing solid value in the underdog role Saturday.

Jack Jones Free Pick For Saturday: Royals/Tigers OVER 9 at Bodog

The Kansas City Royals and Detroit Tigers send two of their worst starters to the mound Saturday in Jeff Francis and Brad Penny, respectively. The runs should be plentiful this afternoon to say the least. Francis is 0-4 with a 5.09 ERA and 1.500 WHIP in eight starts this season, including 0-2 with an 8.36 ERA and 2.071 WHIP in three road outings.
Penny has been a little better, going 3-3 with a 4.78 ERA and 1.306 WHIP in eight starts. Hitters on both teams are going to be licking their chops, though. The Royals came into Friday's game scoring 5.0 RPG while the Tigers were putting up 4.8 RPG heading into Friday, making these two of the most potent offenses in the American League.
Take the OVER in this game Saturday.

ANGELS

Lets back the Angels to bounce back this afternoon with SP Haren on the mound. Currently SP Haren has the 2nd Lowest ERA in the AL, but hasn't notched a win in over a month. Haren is 4-2 with a 1.87 ERA. After going 4-0 with a 1.16 ERA over his first five starts, though, the right-hander is 0-2 with a 2.70 ERA in four starts since, as the Angels have supported him with ONLY a total of four runs in those outings. On Sunday he allowed only two runs and struck out a season-high 10 in 6 2/3 innings, leaving with a 3-2 lead, but failed to get a decision as the Angels lost 6-5 to Cleveland. Haren has a 1.86 ERA in 4 games vs the Rangers. Opposing will be Rangers SP Derek Holland who currently has a 5.18 ERA He hasnt won in his last 3 starts and is coming off a terrible performance vs the Yankees in which he allowed 4 runs, 4 hits and a season-worst 5 walks. The Rangers Texas lineu p is averaging only 4.2 runs per game vs. righties. Overall, the last ten games, Texas is averaging just 3.9 runs per game. The Angels are 6-3 on the Road this year with a total between 8 and 8.5, 12-8 in Road Games, and 9-5 in day games and 10-7 when coming in off a loss. The Rangers are 4-6 when the total is between 8 to 8.5, and 7-8 in Day games on the Year. THE OWAD IS THE ANGELS

5* MLB BEST BET
RAYS RUNLINE -1.5

Lets back the Rays on the Runline here as I believe this game has blowout written all over it. Rays SP Davis has won his last 4 decisions and the Rays have won his last 5 starts. He went five innings at Baltimore on Sunday, allowing three runs, four hits and five walks in a 5-3 victory. SP Davis has a commanding low 3.07 ERA. SP Davis is 4-2 with a 3.09 ERA against the Orioles. Countering will be SP Bergesen for the Orioles. Bergesen is flat out struggling right now going 0-4 with a 5.57 ERA The Orioles have lost all six of Bergesen's starts and he hasn't made it past the sixth in any of those outings. He lasted 4 2/3 innings against the Rays on Sunday, allowing five runs and nine hits opposite Davis. The right-hander is 0-5 with a 9.13 ERA in five starts against the Rays. Eventually he will get a win, BUT NOT TODAY. The Rays are 12-3 after having won 3 of their last 4 games, and 71-15 as a home fav -150 to -175. You may want to consider an optional wager on the Rays Moneyline. 5* MLB BEST BET RAYS RUNLINE -1.5!
